    The Dating Challenge

The Dating Challenge by B. N. Hale My rating: 3 of 5 stars I received this ARC from Red Coat Publishing and the authors in exchange for an honest review.I was looking for a light read this month, since this time of year can be especially busy and stressful. The Dating Challenge provided just the right amount of distraction to allow me a few hours of retreat from reality. There were just a few points I wished had provided more depth, although, I suppose that’s what made this read a light one.The characters had great potential and really captured my attention at the beginning, but by the time I reached…

    Lustiges Taschenbuch Halloween 04: Sonderband

Lustiges Taschenbuch Halloween 04: Sonderband by Walt Disney My rating: 5 of 5 stars I love Halloween and I couldn’t wait to read the newest collection of Halloween stories from Duckburg. They were spooky and cozy and funny and over way too quickly. I wish there had been more, but I’m looking forward to the next collection.

    Hollow Earth

Hollow Earth by Amy Miles My rating: 3 of 5 stars I received this ARC from Red Coat Publishing and the authors in exchange for an honest review. The story continues and it’s a dire situation for Taryn and friends. I was excited to get this book in my hands and felt a bit subdued after the amazing first book I could barely put down long enough to eat/sleep.This installment was mainly character driven, which is by no means a bad thing. I was just looking forward to more of the action and anticipation and the rawness of the characters’ emotions to have a greater part in this book. The reader gets…

Lustiges Taschenbuch Spezial Band 61: Eisiges Entenhausen

Lustiges Taschenbuch Spezial Band 61: Eisiges Entenhausen by Walt Disney Company My rating: 5 of 5 stars A great collection of stories centred around cold temperatures. It was the perfect escape read during an unusually hot start of the fall season.I remember reading “Die fliegenden Eisberge” countless times when I was younger, which brought back all kinds of childhood memories.

    Ultimate Phantomias 08

Lustiges Taschenbuch Ultimate Phantomias 08: Die Chronik eines Superhelden by Walt Disney Company My rating: 4 of 5 stars Better than Ultimate Phantomias #7, but I’m still waiting for those adventurous and daring stories that I have read before in the later collections of this series.

99 Ways to Tell a Story: Exercises in Style

99 Ways to Tell a Story: Exercises in Style by Matt Madden My rating: 3 of 5 stars This was a required reading for my digital storytelling course. I think I can see why it’s listed as mandatory, primarily to provide an overview of the various artistic styles of comic strip drawing, but beyond that it doesn’t hold much importance to most students in this class, since most assignments do not require the submission of comics. If that was the case, my limited skills would have me fail the course miserably. The book was informative and explained many various styles of drawing comics/frames, which can be beneficial for the improved enjoyment…

    Ultimate Phantomias 07

Lustiges Taschenbuch Ultimate Phantomias 07: Die Chronik eines Superhelden by Walt Disney Company My rating: 3 of 5 stars I finally found a way to purchase and read the digital editions of this comic series. After months of waiting and hoping I could get my hands on this installment, I felt a little disappointed by it. It was still good, but it didn’t contain many Phantomias stories that were either fun or adventurous, they all seemed to fall slightly flat.
