Brindille by Frédéric Brrémaud
Thank you Edelweiss and Frontline Publishing for providing me with an ARC of Brindille in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
The Gist
I have to confess I have been browsing titles on the Edelweiss website for a number of years now, but I have struggled with their interface. I can neither understand nor get a hang of how to use this site, which makes the book browsing experience a bit frustrating.
Having said that, I think that is how I lost the opportunity to fully enjoy and appreciate this story.
The Details
Foolishly, I decided to have a copy of Brindille sent to my Kindle, which isn’t the best choice for reading comics or graphic novels.
For one, my Kindle is in black and white. This means I’m unable to fully gush over the beautiful artwork this story contained. I was only able to get a glimpse of it from the few sample pages that were included on the Edelweiss website.
Secondly, I think something must have happened with the formatting as the file was sent to my Kindle.
When I opened the file, I was already on page 75. The more I flipped through, the clearer it got that every page was out of order. It jumped from page 20 to page 118, then back to page 10.
From what I could gather this would have been a really cool story. As far as I could tell it had elements of fairy tales and medieval stories that are certainly my cup of tea.
The Verdict
Overall, I would have loved to read Brindille from beginning to end, because, as I said, it seemed like a very interesting story.
Unfortunately, I am unable to give any further insights in this review and I will have to wait until I can find a copy of Brindille in my local library.
