Bossed Three Times by Madison Faye My rating: 2 of 5 stars This story was part of a combo pack with and apparently, I had nothing better to do, but to read this one as well. I felt this one had more of a story arc and narration to it. It actually made me smile once or twice. Although, in this one the male characters had a tendency to purr (why? I’m not quite sure).More realism and less fantasy inspired, I was surprised how quickly I made it through the book. There was something about it, though, that didn’t seem believable (?), tangible (?) genuinely excitable (?). I can’t put…

Manga Classics: The Count of Monte Cristo
Manga Classics: The Count of Monte Cristo by Crystal S. Chan My rating: 5 of 5 stars I was auto-approved by the publisher Udon Entertainment through NetGalley to review this title. I haven’t had the pleasure of reading the original yet, but this adaptation really got me in the mood. It was a nicely condensed version with great graphics and not too much dialogue.

From the Earth to the Shadows (Valkyrie #2)
From the Earth to the Shadows by Amanda Hocking My rating: 2 of 5 stars I was given this ARC by the publisher in return for an honest review. I was hoping for a nail-biting conclusion to this duology, but sadly the story got lost along the way. I found the main character to be inconsistent from the first book to the second one. All of a sudden, talk revolved around her maybe/almost boyfriend and how happy she was to be with him and his almost smile lifts the corners of his mouth etc. etc. I get it, having new and exciting feelings for someone can take over, but please…

The History of England by a partial, prejudiced and ignorant Historian
The History Of England by Jane Austen My rating: 5 of 5 stars This was hilarious and sort of ridiculous. I love Jane Austen’s wit and steadfast opinions. Another little treat I found in Bath, I can see how it delighted Austen’s family.

The Beautifull Cassandra
The Beautifull Cassandra by Jane Austen My rating: 4 of 5 stars What a treat it was to be able to read some of Jane Austen’s work I haven’t read before. And I felt lucky to have finally found this little book in the gift shop at the Jane Austen Centre in Bath, therefore it holds a special place in my heart. Her little short stories of debauchery, drunkenness, and silly follies were delightful and made the flight back home so much more enjoyable. I just wish there could have been more.A true treat of delight for every Austen fan and a must read.

Elisabeth: Kaiserin wider Willen
Elisabeth: Kaiserin wider Willen by Brigitte Hamann My rating: 2 of 5 stars I visited the Sissi museum in Vienna in December of last year. It was beautiful and enchanting and piqued my enthusiasm of learning more about Elisabeth. I must apologize, if I sound biased and even condescending, but unfortunately most of the books and research one can find about Elisabeth is only through one author, Brigitte Hamann. Based on everything I have read of hers dealing with Elisabeth I am confused as to her motivations to devote so much time and effort into a subject that appears to not be her passion or even full interest. Dispersed within…

Milk & Honey
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur My rating: 4 of 5 stars I was browsing through a bookshop in the Notting Hill neighbourhood when I saw this book of poetry and decided to take a peek inside. I made it halfway through, only to finish the rest of it at another bookstore a few hours later. It contains heavy and unpleasant subject matter and I can understand that it resonates for some, while for others it doesn’t. I read a few reviews, which say that this is not really poetry and I think just like language itself; poetry evolves. Yes, this isn’t like Wordsworth or Keats or any of the classic…

Lustiges Taschenbuch Galaxy 01
Lustiges Taschenbuch Galaxy 01 by Disney My rating: 4 of 5 stars A new series of Donald Duck comics, this one seemed a bit more rushed. The stories were shorter and sometimes it felt like they shortened them in order to fit into this collection, rather than intending them to be short stories. The graphics also appeared to be much closer, as if they are zoomed in, than most Donald duck comics I have read, which sometimes hurt my eyes.Overall, a nice new series with stories I haven’t read before and worth a read. An Almond for a Parrot
An Almond for a Parrot by Wray Delaney My rating: 1 of 5 stars This book was suggested in the Goodreads blog post “The Contenders for the Best Audiobooks of the Year” and the narrator, Rachel Atkins, does a remarkable job bringing this story to life. Sadly, the story itself wasn’t for me. Throughout most of the book I felt lost and confused as to what was actually going on and which genre(s) the story was trying to fit into.I’m very torn about what to say about the characters, because when I think about them individually and separated from the story, they weren’t too bad. Upon closer inspection they felt…

The Heart Forger (The Bone Witch #2)
The Heart Forger by Rin Chupeco My rating: 5 of 5 stars How I itched for this sequel to come out as soon as I finished The Bone Witch late last summer. Slowly unfolding previous mysteries while creating new ones, showing more depth and character development, more emotion, more heartbreak, more intrigue. I can’t wait for the third installment to come out.I think this series is a definite must-read for every lover of fantasy, magic and a hint of romance. View all my reviews
