Darkness

Seven stories high
Noises loud and shadows high
In the darkness sounds have no body
But during the day I have nobody
In darkness lights shine bright with hope and warmth
Lights that promise hope of peace and harmony
By day the wrath of structure and discipline rules
Expectations of adult sense and logic burn as hot as the mid-day’s sun
In darkness I can vanish from the scolding hand
As I take comfort in the light that never shines.
