    Der Kolumbusfalter und andere Abenteuer

Der Kolumbusfalter und andere Abenteuer by Walt Disney Company My rating: 1 of 5 stars As with most people during these very uncertain and even scary times, I’m stuck at home and trying desperately to find ways to fight off boredom. I was lucky when I found a digital version of the first 20 editions of Lustiges Taschenbuch. The publisher began publishing them way before I was born and when I was introduced to them (at an early age), there were about 30 years worth of editions I had missed. So, here I was, sitting comfortably on my couch, ready to embark on this historic journey. And…I don’t think I will…

Biss zum Morgen (Lustiges Taschenbuch, #473)

Biss zum Morgen by Walt Disney Company My rating: 1 of 5 stars I am very partial to good, spooky stories. I love reading them all snuggled up and having a good little scare. So, naturally, I was excited when I came across this edition of Lustiges Taschenbuch; the title and cover art looked so promising. I don’t think I have experienced a greater case of false advertisement than with this comic book. I admit, the first story, Biss zum Morgen, was somewhat spooky and included elements of the horror genre I have seen in previous Disney comics, but the rest of the stories just fell flat, really flat. They…

Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck: The Richest Duck in the World

Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck: The Richest Duck in the World by Don Rosa My rating: 5 of 5 stars A great conclusion to the narration of Uncle Scrooge’s life story. It was funny. It was sad. It contained adventure and intrigue. I appreciated and marvelled over the art work especially in this volume, which focused even more in the fine details in the background that gave a little extra dose of humour.

    Ultimate Phantomias 22

Lustiges Taschenbuch Ultimate Phantomias 22: Die Chronik eines Superhelden by Walt Disney My rating: 5 of 5 stars I have probably already mentioned this before, but growing up reading Donald Duck comics I wasn’t a fan of the Phantomias stories. Now I almost prefer them to regular Donald Duck stories. I was lucky enough for my grandmother, who still lives in Germany, to offer me to send the newest edition of the Ultimate Phantomias and I read it in one sitting, enjoying every story. One story, Zwist im Urlaubsparadies, I remember reading in a different comic book, I think the theme was summer vacation, but other than that they were…

Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck: Return to Plain Awful

Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck: Return to Plain Awful by Don Rosa My rating: 4 of 5 stars A hilarious collection of Uncle Scrooge comics, featuring Donald Duck and the gang. I really enjoyed all of them except for one: “His Majesty, McDuck”. I have no idea why, but this one left a bitter taste in my mouth and I wasn’t really too invested while reading the rest of it.Other than that, it was great entertainment.

Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck: The Last of the Clan McDuck

Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck: The Last of the Clan McDuck by Don Rosa My rating: 5 of 5 stars A rather long story and uncomfortable experience is connected with this collection of Uncle Scrooge comics that spans a total of 25 years and comes to an end at a comic bookstore with a side of sexism.I first read this story as a child in German and I was so impressed by the story that I wanted to keep the weekly editions of my comic books that contained this part of Uncle Scrooges story. Unfortunately, over-enthusiastic grand/parents that like to clean up their grand/child’s room (to be fair, I used…

Donald Duck Vol. 7: Kingdom Under The Sea

Donald Duck Vol. 7: Kingdom Under The Sea by Rodolfo Cimino My rating: 5 of 5 stars Since Amazon.de took my money, deleted half my order and won’t send me the other half, I decided to take a look to see if Amazon.ca offered Donald Duck comics. I was extremely excited when I happened upon this volume, bought it immediately for my Kindle and read it on the spot. It worked well on my Kindle, but it only supported artwork in black and white. On my Kindle app for my Android it worked perfectly in colour. I enjoyed the stories and appreciated reading stories I haven’t read before in English.…
