Lustiges Taschenbuch Ultimate Phantomias 15: Die Chronik eines Superhelden by Walt Disney Company
I have been staring at my computer screen for quite some time now, trying to figure out what to write and how to write it.
What I would really like to write is this: shame on you Egmont Ehapa Verlag for editing an already published story and promoting it as a first publication…within the span of three volumes, nonetheless!
In Ultimate Phantomias 13 the story was published under the title of “Ein Sponsor für Phantomias”; story by Giorgio Pezzin and artwork by Massimo De Vita.
In Ultimate Phantomias 15 the story was published under the title of “Held ohne Geld”; story by Giorgio Pezzin & Massimo Marconi and artwork by Franco Valussi.
The characters and background show differences and not all frames are present in both stories, but there are enough similarities in the direction, movement and position of the characters to belong unquestionably the same original storyboard. In the volume 15 version frames were cut to condense the story, but the editing was poorly done and frames, especially that on page 298, middle of the page, show details that are only explained in the version of volume 13.
The entire story doesn’t make much sense. The text and the drawings do not match up and it is evident that someone was cutting a lot of corners to get this story published.
It wouldn’t bother me as much as it does, if the publisher hadn’t pretended that this was an original, never-before-published story in German.
Below I included a photo of the same page of both stories side by side:
Call me a shmuck for admitting it, but I will continue to purchase volumes in this series, because I enjoy Phantomias’ adventures. I am not happy with the way the publisher treats their readers and I hope for their sake that this is an isolated incident.
